Valerie

Fall Newsletter 2006

Hi, my name is Valerie and I live in Waterloo, Ontario. Today I would like to talk to you about my school newspaper that I am starting. I am drafting a sample newspaper for our principal to review before printing the first edition. She said I could put my own editorial committee together to write it. I will be the editor. I picked three friends from my class to work on it with me, plus one teacher and three parents. The name of the newspaper is La Vie a L’Harmonie. It will be all in French because I go to a French school called Ecole L’Harmonie. I think I became motivated to start my own school newspaper from writing these articles for the China Adoption Report!

Bonjour!

Spring Newsletter 2005:

Valarie of Waterloo ON describes her passion. You can ask Valarie more about her Apollo or horses in general by sending a message to us with “Valerie” in the subject line.

Did you know that horses are mammal's just like us. They are also vegetarian and they will eat about half a bale of hay each day. Some horses get grain, salt blocks and other things like that. They need water and exercise every day. They need open space and most horses like to be with other horses.
Some people ride Western and some ride English. The difference is western was used in the west to round up cattle but English riding is more sophisticated and usually the horses are much calmer. I ride English and I have been riding for three years.
Horses are my favourite animal, but I also many other animals especially dolphins, dogs and snakes. My mom is going to sign me up for the Junior Vet Program at our Humane Society. I will be learning lots about all types of animals. I don't know if they have any snakes though. I will tell you about it when I start.

ValerieFall Newsletter 2004: Apollo

My name is Valerie.  I was adopted from China and I live in Waterloo.  I have a horse named Apollo.  He is very nice and loves treats (carrots, apples and sugar cubes) and he is very stubborn.  He is 11 years old and loves kids and he is going lame because his front right leg hurts.  He is moving to a place named Troika Stables in Waterloo. It is a very nice barn. He will be there for a month so they can do some laser surgery on his leg that is lame. And here is the good part. I'll be able to go there any time I want!  We hope that it will work but even if it does not work, I will still love him!

And that was a report by Valerie.
