Camping Trip with our Friends
Summer Newsletter 2006:
This summer my best friend Sophie and I went to camp Wanapitei on Lake Temogami for one week. I was very nervous and excited because it was my first time at overnight camp. On the first day I had so much fun. When I went to the nurse I was really scared because I don’t like needles but guess what? I got a gummy worm. So then I wished that I could go to the doctor everyday because I really liked the gummy worms. I learned how to kayak, and we went swimming. We went on an overnight canoe trip and slept in tents. We had macaroni and cheese. It tasted really gross. I just really don’t know how people eat it. I really enjoyed canoeing and staying at our campsite. I made a really yummy smore with a graham cracker, roasted marshmallow and chocolate. It tasted really good. One day when we were canoeing it was very windy and we went through very high waves. I thought we were going to tip over. For the whole week I didn’t have a shower. I think I was stinky. I had a great experience. I hope I will be able to go next year.
In my family there is my Mom Kathy, my kitten Smudge, my Cat Bea, and my Fish Goldy. My birthday is on April 26 and I am born in 1996, the year of the Rat. I am in grade four. My favorite subject is music. I really love singing in the choir. I also play the piano and recorder. I am going to tell you about my summer vacation last year. Me and my Mom and my friend Sophie and her Mom Patricia went on a canoe trip in Temagami. I was very nervous because I have never been canoeing before. We had a really good time. We learned how to do different strokes with our paddles. I met new friends. My favorite part was when we went skinny-dipping and we also put on a show. It actually lasted for one hour. It was very funny and it was very fun to put on a gymnastics show. I really had a great summer last year. So for this summer me and my friend Sophie are going to an overnight Canoeing camp by ourselves. Again it is in Temagami. I can hardly wait until the summer.
