HannaSpring Newsletter 2007

Hi it’s me Hanna! Have you ever had a time when you had to go somewhere and leave your friends? I have, in fact almost every year I go to Vancouver, British Columbia for a visit to see my cousins and my grandmother.

But I usually only go for a month. But this summer I’m going to Victoria, British Columbia, for a whole year! The reason why I’m going for a year is because my mom will have a sabbatical. For those who don’t know what a sabbatical is it’s a time when your parents take a year off for doing research in a different place. I’m positive that I will think that OTTAWA is a 100% better place to live then Victoria!!!! I’m sort of scared because I won’t know anyone. But I’m happy because my mom found a school for me it’s called Arbutus Middle School. It has about 200/300 kids in the school. It has sports teams, a cafeteria and even a tiny shop. I’m sure this school will be nice and active. But it will probably never make me feel like I’m with my friends back home. I hope you enjoyed my story and now know what it will feel like, moving to a different place.

HannaFall Newsletter 2006: A Dog Story

Hi! My name is Hanna! I’m ten years old and I live in Ottawa Ontario. I was wondering if any of you guys have a favorite toy, animal, or even a story of an animal. If so maybe you would like to write about it as well. Well my favorite animal is a dog because it helps people and is very playful. Now for a story. Not long ago my mom’s high school friends were camping in Killarney. When they went to bed their neighbors forgot to put their food back in the car. So they had a dog and it was barking a lot. So the neighbors sat on the dog to make the dog stop barking. When all of a sudden a bear came and ate all of their food. The next day the police came and took the bear back to his natural habitat. So it

wasn’t that nice for the dog but at least it didn’t get eaten by the bear. Oops I forgot to talk about my dog. Well I have a dog called Toby and he is seven years old, friendly and very active. Sometimes I go to the park and play with him. That’s why I love dogs!
