A collection of Emily's writings over the past years.
It was one of those ordinary days when time goes so slow it feels like the clock is broken. My mother had gone shopping and had just arrived back home. "I was listening to CBC Radio and heard they're having a writing contest. To enter, you have to write the first paragraph of a story."
Because I love writing stories I decided to enter the contest. I wrote my first paragraph in less than 15 minutes and we sent it out by e-mail. A week later I heard I had made it into the finals for the contest. I was excited. I don't know whether or not I will win, but I hope so! Emily Pletz (10½) Lumsden SK
Ed: Hen we heard about Emily entry into the contest, we had asked her to tell us about her writing. We do not have room here to print it all but it starts out:: It was gone... all gone. The cupboards were empty and the shelves were bare .The young house let out a creak. Yellow paint that once glowed, faded to skeletal grey. …. A month after Emily submitted her story about her story for the newsletter, she sent an e-mail. She had won first prize. Now we might just ask her to write the rest of the story.
