Fall Newsletter 2006: MY WONDERFUL SUMMER AT LOON LAKE

I had a wonderful summer at Loon Lake and this is why. The first thing I did was help celebrate my Nana and Grampa’s 50th wedding anniversary. Another good thing that happened over the summer was that the weather was always good. Then we had sports weekend. On sports weekend I won lots of ribbons. There were land races and water races. Then there was a wiener roast on the Saturday night. Then I got to have some time to play with my friends. Then on Sunday night there was a corn roast. I got a tennis trophy because I came first in a tennis tournament. The next day we had to go back home. I had a wonderful summer!

Chinese New Year  

Winter Newsletter 2006

This month my mom and I got invited by the librarian at my school to talk about Chinese New Year. We talked to the grade 2 classes about traditions we do to celebrate Chinese New Year. We told them about the dragon dance and how the dragon isn’t scary but is about helping people and kindness. We also told them about how it’s good luck if a flower blooms in your house on Chinese New Year and we told them about getting red pockets and lucky money. Then we read them a story called Sam and the Lucky Money and then we showed them how to make lanterns and write the Chinese character for dog because it is the year of the dog. I liked doing that because I enjoy helping people and because I want to be a teacher when I grow up.
