Chongqing

In Aprip 2006, Hilary travelled with her parents:Brian & Dena Kingstone of Ottawa and several other families to Chongqing to meet her sister Julia. Hilary provided this trip report

Last month I went with my parents to adopt my little sister Julia Anne Fujun Kingstone. While I was in China I learned many things, way too many to count, but I decided to tell you the top eight things that I learned.

There are green eggs in china. Bright green eggs.

When you say no to a hutong driver, it means nothing to them. They will just keep on nagging at you.

When you’re shopping you have to bargain because at first they charge you WAY more then what people who are living in China pay because they see that you are Canadian.

The drivers in Beijing are insane, but in my whole trip I didn’t see even one accident. I’ve now come to the conclusion that it is organised chaos. You can’t even cross a street. You have to take a bridge over or under the road.

There are many different sections on the Great Wall and some of them are closed because they are too dangerous. The main tourist section of the Great Wall is Badaling.

People in China that have babies don’t bring them out. In my whole trip I only saw two babies.

People in China aren’t shy at all. They would stare at you and sometimes even ask you to go into pictures with them.

And the most important thing is, that my sister is adorable!
